BodyTrace Scale

Why do I need to step on the scale?
Stepping on the scale is a great opportunity to learn more about your body and how it is responding to the different lifestyle changes you are making throughout the program. Stepping on the scale provides your Inspirator with objective feedback on how to adjust the recommendations they are making to ensure that you achieve the best outcomes.

The bottom line is that if you want to lose weight and improve your health, you need to monitor your weight. By using the graphs in the app to see how a new habit is affecting your weight in real time, you and your Inspirator will be able to work together to make your personalized program as efficient as possible for you.

How often should I use my scale?
You can use your scale as often as you want, and we recommend that you step on the scale a minimum of twice a week. All measurements will be transmitted directly to your app and appear on your Achieve on the Go mobile app in real-time.

How much weight should I be expected to lose in the program?
Newtopia sets a minimum goal of 5% body weight reduction by month 12. A change of 5% in your body weight can change physiological markers in the body such as blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol values, and BMI. This will help you reduce your risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke.

Can others use my scale?
It is best to reserve your scale for your own use. This ensures your weight readings throughout the Newtopia program are accurate. If another individual with a similar weight steps on your scale, it is possible their weight may appear in your Achieve on the Go mobile app. You can always check your weight graph in the Newtopia Achieve on the Go app to determine if you have any incorrect weight readings.

We understand sometimes family members or pets may step on your scale. In most cases, others’ weights will automatically be filtered out. If you noticed any readings that are incorrect, let your Inspirator know to delete any weight records that aren’t yours.

How do I use my scale?
Make sure that your scale is on a flat, even surface and follow these instructions to register a weight reading:
1. Step on to your scale. Remain as still as possible.

2. Once your weight reading stabilizes, step off the scale.
3. A series of dashes will move around the border of the display, indicating data is being transmitted.

Data is transmitted from your scale to your Newtopia account within 5-10 minutes. Please check your weight graph in the Newtopia Achieve on the Go app to review your progress.

Get in touch with our Tech Support Team if your weight does not appear in your Newtopia app after 5-10 minutes or if you experience persistent issues with your scale. Please have the following information ready for your call:
1. The date of your last weigh in
2. The weight reading on the scale
3. The approximate number of times you’ve weighed in since the last weights were transmitted to your Newtopia Achieve on the Go app

Why does my scale show the wrong weight? It’s showing a difference of 4 or 5 pounds from my recent/current weight. It only registers my correct weight if I step off and back on several times.
If your scale has been moved around, it may need to be recalibrated to show accurate readings. You can recalibrate your scale by following the same steps you would take to register a weight reading twice:
1. Step on your scale. Remain as still as possible.

2. Once your weight reading stabilizes, step off the scale.
3. A series of dashes will move around the border of the display, indicating data is being transmitted.
4. When the screen goes blank, repeat the above steps once more.

If your weight still does not appear in your Newtopia app after 5-10 minutes or if you experience persistent issues with your scale, please contact the Newtopia Tech Support team and have the following information ready:
1. The date of your last weigh in
2. The weight reading on the scale
3. The approximate number of times you’ve weighed in since the last weights were transmitted to your Newtopia Achieve on the Go app

How does the BodyTrace scale transmit my weight?
The BodyTrace scale uses a cellular (GSM) data network signal to transmit your weight to the Newtopia database. We use these measurements in combination with additional data so we can better evaluate your progress and your Inspirator can provide you with more effective recommendations on how to reach your health goals.

Is the scale using wifi?
No, it’s using the cellular (GSM) network. This way you don’t have to enter a password, select a network, or take any additional steps to use the scale. All you need to do is open the box, step on the scale, and check your results in your Newtopia Achieve on the Go mobile app.

How do I turn my scale off?
Your scale turns off automatically.

How do I change from kg to lb?
Press the UNIT button on the bottom of your scale.

Can multiple scales be used in the same household?
Multiple scales can co-exist in the same household. However, because scales are synced to your personal Newtopia profile, we suggest that each person uses their given scale to make sure that the correct weights are logged only for you. If there are other members of the family that want to keep track of their weight, then using multiple scales is the way to go.

Where should I use my scale?
We suggest using it in your bedroom or living room instead of your bathroom to ensure the best possible cellular signal. Placing the scale on a flat, level surface every time will also ensure the most accurate and consistent weight readings.

What kind of batteries are recommended?
To power your scale, 4 AA batteries are needed.

What is the maximum weight that it measures?
The BodyTrace scale is calibrated for 180 kg (397 lb).

What is the accuracy of the scale?
+/- 0.1 kg (0.2 lb).
