How to Set New Year’s Goals (and achieve them)
yearly planner and gold pen

The start of a new year is a great time to take stock of your current health and wellness habits and set goals to improve them. Let 2021 be the year that you turn resolutions and goals into lasting results – with these 3 helpful tips.

1. Set Realistic and Achievable Goals

Make sure your goals are specific and personal. Determine your true starting point, and then make incremental changes, so that you can work sustainably towards achieving your goals.

For example, if your goal is to drink 8 glasses of water per day, track your water intake. See how much you currently drink per day, then set a goal to drink one additional glass of water each week. Don’t rush things. You need to change your habits gradually in order to achieve sustainable results.

2. Create Accountability

It’s perfectly natural to fall off track or lose motivation as time goes by. When this happens, don’t panic. Remember your “why”. Why did you embark on this health journey in the first place? Post your answer somewhere that you will refer to each day. Scheduling sessions with your Newtopia Inspirator is another great way to stay accountable.

Don’t go it alone. Figure out who you can count on to help you achieve your health goals. Let them know specific ways that they can help to support you.

3. Reward Yourself!

When you achieve a weekly or daily goal, reward yourself. You deserve it! Just ensure that the reward will not set your other goals out of balance. Choose a non-food-oriented goal, like some extra time for self-care.
