Who is Newtopia?
Newtopia is a confidential highly personalized one-on-one health and well-being coaching program. Tailored specifically for you, Newtopia offers one-on-one coaching to help you make small, positive changes and avoid health risks. Newtopia provides tools to create healthy habits so you can prevent chronic health issues and diseases.
How do I enroll in Newtopia and earn my first month’s Wellness incentive?
If you are new to Newtopia, register with Newtopia via the Virgin Pulse portal.
Be sure to complete all the steps for Newtopia registration:
- Complete your Personality Profile (this helps match you with your Inspirator)
- Schedule a Coaching Session with your Inspirator
- Complete your Personal Profile (this information is needed to receive your Welcome Kit)
You must schedule and complete your first coaching session to be considered enrolled in Newtopia to earn your first month’s Wellness incentive. You do not need your Welcome Kit in hand to complete this first session and earn the incentive.
If you are already registered with Newtopia, you do NOT need to re-register.
What do I have to do each month to earn Additional Wellness Rewards on Path B?
Each month, participants need to actively engage with Newtopia and complete at least two of the activities below to qualify for the monthly Wellness Reward.
- A coaching session through Newtopia
- Nutrition tracking (8x/mo)
- Weight tracking on Newtopia provided scale (8x/mo)
- Utilization of Newtopia’s app (8x/mo)
- Participation in a Newtopia challenge (1x/mo)
- Activity Tracking (7,000 steps/day for 10 days/mo)
Can I complete the same activity twice to earn my monthly incentive on Newtopia or does it have to be two different activities?
You can complete the same activity twice or two different activities each month to earn Wellness Incentive. For example: 1) complete two coaching sessions in a month OR 2) one coaching session and eight weigh-ins on the digital scale. Both examples would meet the monthly requirement to receive the Wellness Incentive.
How do I sync my Fitbit to the Newtopia app?
You may be eligible to receive a free Fitbit (limit one) from Newtopia when you register. To sync your steps, you must log in to the Newtopia app. You must log on before the end of each month, so that your steps will sync, and you receive credit toward your monthly Newtopia activity requirement.
The Newtopia app also integrates with the following devices:
- Body Trace scale
- Apple Health
- Google Fit
- Any device that tracks steps/activity and can be synced to Apple Health or Google Fit
For Apple Health or Google Fit users, you must open these apps first, before you log into the Newtopia app. If you do not see your steps in the Newtopia app, please log out of the Newtopia app, re-open Apple Health or Google Fit, then log into the Newtopia app again.
If I am aligned to Path B, can I use the Virgin Pulse portal to track my steps? What else can I do on the Virgin Pulse portal?
Although you can sync a device or app to the Virgin Pulse portal, the steps and active/workout minutes tracked on
Virgin Pulse are NOT eligible to earn Wellness Rewards, if you are assigned to Path B. In order to be eligible to receive
Wellness Rewards on Path B, you must track your steps by syncing your device to the Newtopia app.
Please note, you may be eligible to receive a free Fitbit (limit one) from Newtopia when you register, which should be
synced to the Newtopia App. You are NOT eligible to receive the free tracking device through Virgin Pulse (Max Buzz).
You can also access Healthy Habits, Daily Cards, Personal and Company Challenges, Nutrition and Sleep tracking and complete Journeys® (daily, self-guided courses to help you build healthy habits) on the Virgin Pulse portal; however, completion of these activities is not eligible for Wellness Rewards*.
*Note: Employees who submit a completed physician form and have been approved for a Reasonable Alternative activity due to a medical condition or qualified technology exception may be eligible to earn Wellness Rewards for completion of Journeys. Please refer to the General Information section in this document for instructions on how to apply for a Reasonable Alternative.
What is the genetic testing component available through Newtopia in Path B?
As part of the Newtopia program you have an opportunity to participate in a ‘genetic reveal’ specifically related to uncovering how seven particular genes related to metabolism, eating, exercise, caffeine, circadian rhythms, and stress may play a role in your health. The genetic test/reveal is optional and not required for earning the wellness incentive or participation in the program.
Once I register with Newtopia, what are the next steps?
During registration, you will complete a brief questionnaire so that you can be matched to an “Inspirator” (health coach). You can select a date/time for your first Inspirator coaching session. You will also receive your Newtopia Welcome Kit within two to three weeks of registering. The Welcome Kit contains: a digital scale that syncs to your online profile, wearable activity tracking device and a tape measure. Download the Newtopia mobile app, so you can track your progress and communicate with your Inspirator.
Reminder: you must schedule and complete your first coaching session to be considered enrolled in Newtopia to earn your first month’s Wellness incentive. You do not need your Welcome Kit in hand to complete this first session and earn the incentive.
I am assigned to Path B, and I am currently enrolled in Newtopia. What do I need to do to earn Wellness Rewards?
If you are currently enrolled in Newtopia, you do not need to re-register. However, in order to earn Wellness Rewards for completing the monthly Newtopia activities, you will need to register with Virgin Pulse, the administrator of the Additional Wellness Activities for the JPMC Simplified Wellness Program. Once you enroll with Virgin Pulse, simply continue to actively engage with Newtopia each month and complete at least two of the required activities to qualify for the monthly Wellness Reward.

I have been assigned to Path B, but I am pregnant. Can I still participate in Newtopia to receive additional Wellness incentive?
Employees who are pregnant can still participate in the Newtopia Program. Newtopia is not only a weight loss program, but also an individualized health coaching program that provides support on many additional health topics such as eating healthy, exercise/activity, sleep and stress management.
If I’m currently enrolled in Newtopia, can I continue to participate in the program even if I’m not assigned to Path B?
No, if you have been assigned to Path A (activity tracking), your engagement with Newtopia will be terminated and you must complete the requirements along Path A to earn Additional Wellness Rewards.
