Take Control

We’re living in a new reality. One that is unprecedented in our lifetime. As the coronavirus outbreak continues to evolve, one thing is clear: Change.
This is our new norm. How do we prepare for it? Many more of us are working from home regardless if we are ready or not. We’re fast becoming a virtual society with limited human contact. But remember, social distancing doesn’t mean emotional distancing. Don’t isolate yourself.
It’s important to stay in touch and to have a support system in place to feel connected. Technology makes it very easy to do so. Calls, text messaging, emails, video conferencing, or keeping up with your online social network… all of this enables us to feel connected from just about anywhere.
In the coming days and weeks, your routine might look a bit different. You might spend more time at home and your access to entertainment venues, gyms, and public events might also be limited. As you spend more time at home, it’s important that you continue to eat well, stay active, and find balance in your life to keep your immune system healthy.
Whether you are social distancing, working from home, or practicing self-quarantining, be sure to keep to a regular schedule. Having a routine provides structure, and structure is especially helpful when life become unpredictable in other ways.

Take control during this challenging time. Being at home gives you greater control over the food you prepare for you and your family. If you have children or others to care for at home, this might be the perfect time to strengthen those bonds. Use this time to reconnect in ways that your normal busy lives don’t allow.
Be calm and enjoy the silence, because life’s many distractions and hectic routines are begrudgingly quieting down. You know the old saying: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Keep in mind, we’re all in this together. COVID-19 can either tear our social fabric or bring out the best of humanity. Let kindness and calm prevail over fear.
